April 2019
There has been a long gap in my Life sketching and I was lucky to be part of drawing group at my local art club. I used the proportional divider for the first time and it really made a difference. We had two wonderful models and they produced some charming poses. I’m pleased with the result, especially after such a long break.

I’ve not been to the Life Classes for a while so I attended a session at Waterloo this week. Two great models and a relaxed pace.
Plenty of 2 & 5 minute poses. One 20 minute pose at the end. The model liked it and took a photo. I think I can do better. There were a couple of 5 minute poses that went well.

I’ve begun to add colour to my life drawings when there is a longer sitting. I’m trying new watercolour supplies and using the waterbrush that I love. Here are some of my more recent drawings:
I attended a Life class last night. It was a busy class and a lot of new people. The model was really good and I enjoyed drawing her.
Since my sketchbook is full of drawings of buildings I have been asked if I can draw people.
Once a month I attend a London Drawing life class. I love the variety of the models and the atmosphere of total concentration there. Most of all it’s to solve the puzzle of the shape in front of me. With poses lasting from 2 minutes to half an hour there are many challenges of shape, tone and texture.
I’ll leave it up to you to decide if I can draw people with these example drawings…
I think you can draw people!
Well Hugh you most certainly can draw and what I most like is you draw people with character all sizes and shapes that’s an artist the beauty of nature. Loved them sketches.
Many thanks Vivien for your comment. You are very kind.
